Here you can read how to legally change your name in the Republic of Ireland along with allowing you to APPLY online to have your deed poll drawn up by our legal team.
DEED POLLS
A Deed Poll can be used to legally and formally change your name in the Republic of Ireland. You can apply on this website to have our legal team to DRAW UP your legal Deed Poll for a fraction of the cost of having a Solicitor draw up your name change deed poll.
Passport Office
Your Passport or Driver's Licence will probably be the LAST identity documents you change over to your new name as the Passport Office in particular will only allow you to use your new name on your passport after you provide evidence of using the new name for two years.
Register of Deeds
After you receive your Deed Poll in the post and sign it with your witness you can register your deed poll with the High Court. While not compulsory, it is helpful as it places your change of name on a State public record. You can submit this yourself or ask a Solicitor to submit it on your behave. Full instructions are provided with your deed poll.
Use & Repute
By using your Deed Poll to change your name on your passport, driver’s licence, financial accounts, billing, Doctor and Dentist records, you are achieving what is referred to legally as "use and repute" - as in, you USE the new name and are REPUTED to be known by that name.
