Irish government bodies like the Irish Passport Office, the Dept of Social Protection and the National Drivers Licence Service will only accept Deed Polls that have been registered with the Deed Poll Office at the Central Office of the High Court.
Passports
Your passport will probably be the LAST document you change over to your new name as the Irish Passport Office insists you must provide proof of using the new name for a period of time set by their office before your new name can be added to your passport.
Use & Repute
By using your Deed Poll to change your name on national ID documents, financial accounts and billing, you are achieving what is referred to legally as "use and repute" - as in you USE the new name and are REPUTED to be known by that name.
